Abstract: The test cases for this workshop were selected from existing experimental data, where a particle material with a relatively small mean dLameter (D$_{p}$ < 100 $\mu$m) was used. In this particle size regime the particles will more strongly interact with the turbulent eddies and, hence their motion is affected by the mean flowfield and the structure of the turbulence. Three test cases where chosen for the comparison between available experimental data and numerical prediction. The test case 1 is based on the experimental data obtained at the Lehrstuhl für Strömungsmechanik in a confined plane gas-particle jet and for the test cases 2 and 3 results for agas particle free jet were taken from the literature. In general the agreement between the experiments and the predictions by the different numerical codes was quite satisfactory, where it came out, that the Lagrangian treatment of the particles is superior to the Eulerian calculations. Especially for the test cases 2 and 3 some disagreement in the turbulence intensities of the gas and the particles was found between the experiments and the numerical simulations. Therefore still improvements in the modelling of turbulent flow fields and the interaction between particles and turbulent eddies are required. Besides the introduction to the modelling of two-phase flows and the introduction and the discussion of the test cases individual presentations are included in this proceedings, which are relatedto fundamentals of two-phase flows.
